DENR conducts political boundary survey project in City of Mati

The city government of Mati has recently launched the groundbreaking ceremony of the political boundary survey project covering the 26 barangays of the city by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - DENR Region – XI. Mati City Mayor Michelle N. Rabat led the groundbreaking and time capsule laying ceremonies to officially start the political boundary survey project together with RTD Felix S. Alicer – RTD4 of Land Management Services, DENR – XI officials, and the contractor of the project Gilbert Palacol. The survey aims to define and determine the meters and bounds of the 26 barangays in Mati.

 

Mati City joins Earth Hour 2012 : Mati`s Call to Save Mother Earth

As the 200 sky lanterns made their way up high, Mayor Michelle Rabat express profound happiness for the conduct of the Earth Hour of which, the releasing of the sky lanterns is one of the highlights. Symbolizing peace, and unity of all sectors, the sky lanterns gave the message of hope that with all the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, something can be done to preserve and save Mother nature. Such, was the message of the one hour switching off lights on March 31, 2012, from 8:30-9:30 in the evening. For the 5th time, the City of Mati actively participated in the Earth Hour on March 31, also a global call for awareness to Global Warming, insinuating the great need for environmental preservation and protection.

Mati City, among 6 Mindanao LGUs who receive awards for development programs

Mati City (May 17, 2012) -- President Aquino presented awards to at least six local government units (LGUs) for the exemplary implementation of the Mindanao Rural Development Program’s Community Fund for Agricultural Development (MRDP-CFAD) in ceremonies at the Grand Regal Hotel Davao, May 14, 2012, Monday. “The MRDP has shown it has succeeded in mobilizing communities for agricultural development in Mindanao. It has successfully established through its various projects farm-to-market roads, bridges, water systems and solar dryers as well as other agri-fishery infrastructure in the rural areas,” the President said, adding that MRDP has contributed much in the country’s campaign to attain “freedom from hunger.” Aquino said the MRDP has helped in providing food for communities, especially in the rural areas. Mati City in Davao Oriental was adjudged as the best LGU implementing the MRDP-CFAD program. Mayor Michelle Rabat accepted the award, which came with a P2.5 million additional funding for rural development in the area.
