MATI: FINALLY, A COMPONENT CITY!

Christmas 2009 is the most memorable Christmas, and yes, the best as yet, for Mati and its people….a Christmas ushering a very bright promise, and signals the start of something new and more challenging for Mati. As Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat entered in the main door of the Casa Rosa where a press conference was held to announce publicly that Mati is confirmed a component city through the 6-4 decision of the Justices of the Supreme Court, understandably and logically, she was exuding with happiness, triumph, and pride.

If you happen to be in the City of Mati and want to surf, look no further. Just go directly to barangay Dahican. The place has a 7-kilometer stretch of white sand beach that faces the Pacific Ocean; its waves and currents can be scary and treacherous during the monsoon months.

“You don’t have to go to Boracay to experience white sand,” says Michael N. Rabat, the brother of the city mayor who toured us around the place the first time when visited Mati. “The area is secluded, peaceful, and far from the madding crowd.”
