GOV. MALANYAON TO WIN BACK PEOPLE’S TRUST IN CAPITOL

CITY OF MATI---- Armed with an overwhelming mandate which is unprecedented in the political history of Davao Oriental, newly installed Davao Oriental Governor Corazon Malanyaon has vowed to win back the people’s trust and confidence in the provincial government through utmost transparency in the Capitol’s operations and by putting much emphasis on the delivery of basic services such as health and education.

“I did not seek this office to do things they have always been doing. What I care about is restoring your confidence in your provincial government. What I care about is making the government work for the people and not the people for the government. What I care about is for the people to see their government as a partner in their lives, not a roadblock to their dreams. What I care most is giving my constituents a quality of life that enhances his self-worth, his self-esteem and his value as a responsible citizen of the world,” says Gov. Malanyaon who got a landslide victory in the recently concluded gubernatorial race here.  “I realized that I was elected on the platform of faith and hope, and I feel a great sense of responsibility not to let our people down.”

DAVAO ORIENTAL GEARS TOWARDS REFORM IN BUREAUCRACY
BY : Ms. Neela G. Duallo
       DXHM-Mati

City of Mati-Davao Oriental - Governor Corazon Malanyaon and Vice-Governor Mayo Almario of Davao Oriental are starting to set things towards reforming the bureaucracy in the province.

In her first day in office, Malanyaon ascertained the financial status of the Province.

With the different Heads of Office in attendance, she revealed in the first inaugural session of the 12th Sangguniang Panlalawigan that the Province had over expenditures incurred as of June 30, 2007.

For this reason, the provincial government will not pay illegitimate claims and is putting applications on hold.

“I will not pay illegitimate claims. But legitimate claims can be assured that they will be attended to. Applications are on hold. The provincial government first needs to know how many employees are really needed”’ Malanyaon said.

Almario also emphasized that the provincial government will adopt a system of reward and punishment.

In this April 24, 2008 file photo, Washington Wizards' Gilbert Arenas smiles in the first quarter of Game 3 of an NBA basketball first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Washington. Arenas has agreed to re-sign with the Wizards for $111 million over six years, essentially taking millions less so that his team could have more financial flexibility, two newspapers reported Thursday, July 3, 2008. Gilbert Arenas is accepting less money from the Washington Wizards, invoking an attitude far, far removed from the world of his working-class fans. "What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can't do with $111 million?" he told The Washington Post. The unpredictable three-time All-Star point guard, in vintage Agent Zero fashion, told the Post and the Washington Times on Thursday that he...
