Lola Ma. Estrella Jacobo Brillantes received a P100,000 gift from the government for having lived thru 100 years.Last September 30, the Department of Social Welfare and Development visited Lola Estrella in her residence at Barangay Libudon, City of Mati and handed over the cash in compliance with Republic Act No. 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016.
Lola Estrella was born on June 01, 1919 in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo City but is now residing in Barangay Libudon. Aside from the cash, she also received plaque of recognition and t-shirt.Brillantes personally received the cash gift together with her daughter.
Witnessing the handover of cash was Mae belle Fontillas of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, Jeaneth Romulo, Focal of the Office the Senior Citizen Affairs and Dahlia S. Padillo, Focal of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 11.Lola Estrella is the second centenarian to be awarded cash in the City of Mati. Last 2018 a centenarian from Barangay Matiao was also given with the same amount.
The Filipino Centenarian is also a national pensioner of the senior citizen pension. (CIO MATI)
