After two months of having zero Covid-19 case in the City of Mati, the Incident Management Team today confirms one Covid-19 case.

The patient is a 54-year old male Matinian who arrived on May 31 from Tarlac with her mother and wife thru the Locally Stranded Individual (LSI) program of the government.

The LSIs, who were earlier given health clearances from where they came from, were fetched by our vehicle from Davao City and immediately transported to our PUM facility.

Swab samples were taken from them on June 1 and they were in isolation upon arrival. Today the result of their swab tests came out and it was discovered that of the three LSIs, the 54-year old male came out positive.

The patient, though asymptomatic, will now be transported to our Alternate Care Site facility for isolation and monitoring. His companions will also be transferred as well to the ACS.

Our transport team who fetched the LSIs from Davao were on full PPEs all the time. But the IMT decided to also include them in the swab test as a precaution.

Repeat swab sample will be taken from our Covid patient tonight and will be sent to Davao for confirmation. Until such time, all three LSIs will be strictly monitored.

The PUM facility to which the Covid patient stayed will also be fully disinfected tonight. Other PUMs staying in the said facility had also been tested and they are all negative thus they were allowed to go home.

The latest Covid patient is the 4th confirmed case in Mati City. The other three had already recovered two months ago. (CIO MATI)
