A German national who visited the City of Mati since December 2019 was ordered to be repatriated by the German Embassy with the cooperation of the City Governments of Mati and Davao.

In a communication, the German Embassy confirmed the inclusion of one Frank Fleischer in today’s special repatriation flight from Davao to Manila.

“Flight 2P9814 is a special repatriation flight organized by the German government. It will exclusively transport stranded German and European tourists from Davao to Manila – the tourists will be repatriated to Germany by a subsequent international repatriation flight out of Manila,” the communiqué read.

“The German Embassy confirms that Mr./Ms. Frank Fleischer is on the confirmed passenger list of this flight to Manila and will be repatriated out of Manila. This is the last special flight the German government organizes to allow German nationals to leave Davao. Philippine authorities are kindly requested to assist Mr./Ms. Frank in accessing Davao airport,” added the communiqué.

It was learned that Fleischer arrived in Mati sometime in December upon the invitation of a female resident of the city and had been staying in Barangay Tamisan since then.

Relatives of Fleischer’s female friend sought the help of the local authorities for the safe transport of the German national considering that many of the borders are on lockdown.

Latest report showed that aside from Fleischer, another German national and a Filipina went with him to Davao Wednesday morning. The other two were identified as Joachim Malik and Evangeline Suralta Marso.

City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat readily ordered the Mati IMT for coordination with the City Government of Davao for the safe passage of the German nationals from Mati to Davao.

A team from the Philippine Red Cross Davao Oriental accompanied Fleischer to Davao City Wednesday morning. Fleischer is not suffering from any flu-like symptoms and was screened before his transport to Davao. (CIO MATI)
