A total of 68 notices of non-renewal of business permits and licenses were issued to establishments in the City of Mati by the Business Permit and Licensing Office.

BPLO created joint inspection teams (JIT) early February to check on establishments that have not renewed their permits.

Teams A and B are composed of Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Tourism and Promotions Office, City Treasurer’s Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Health Office-Sanitary Inspection Section, City Administrator’s Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and City Engineering Office.

For the team A they have issued 50 notices of non-renewal wherein 1 establishment complied, 9 are on process and 4 have already closed shop.

For team B they have issued 18 notices of non-renewal wherein 4 have complied and renewed.

The team have also issued 10 notices of violation mostly coming from beach resorts, but 3 of them are now under process. The violations are mostly lack of certificate of non-compliance from the DENR and zoning certificate.

According to Salve Castro, BPLO officer-in-charge, they will still continue to conduct inspection on illegal businesses in the city.

The second round of the inspection will continue this month covering Barangay Central and Dahican. (CIO MATI)
