March is Women’s Month celebration and the women of the City of Mati are surely in for a big celebration after Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat decided to donate P100,000 cash assistance for the month-long celebration.

After Monday’s flag ceremony, women federation leaders from all 26 barangays of the city were presented along with a dance presentation to kick-off Women’s Month.

Mae Belle Fontillas, City Social Welfare and Development Office officer-in-charge, welcomed Mayor Michelle’s cash assistance saying that the financial aid would be a big help to the women’s federations in all barangays.

Among the activities lined up this month are advocacy trainings and meetings on LCAT-VAWC (Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children); information campaign on radio and social media; gender-sensitivity training for city government officials and employees, among others.

Fontillas said they would also be a having grand culmination activity on March 31 for all women of the City of Mati. The CSWDO officer said they are still planning as to the finale activity.

This month’s celebration theme is “We Make Work for Women”.

The CSWDO, in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, is presently consolidating data as to the number of women in each barangays not just of the City of Mati but also in other 10 towns of the province. (CIO MATI)
