The Provincial Health Office together with the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit have cleared all 29 residents of Davao Oriental who travelled to Guangzhou, China last month after having completed the 14-day mandatory quarantine.

After arriving in the country on January 27, the 14-day quarantine ended Sunday, February 9.

Of the 29, only two have been declared as “persons under investigation” (PUI) after suffering from flu-like symptoms while the remaining 27 were only considered as “persons under monitoring” (PUM).

The two were readily transported to the Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City for isolation and observation. Samples were also taken from the two and were sent to Australia for confirmatory test.

On Sunday, February 9, the laboratory result came in and the two PUIs tested negative of the 2019 novel Coronavirus infection.

City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat earlier activated the Incident Management Team against the 2019 novel Coronavirus, the African Swine Fever, and the H5N1 bird flu.

The IMT is tasked to ensure the strict implementation of all safety and precautionary measures to ensure that the City of Mati would not be affected by the three maladies that have already hit several areas in the country and the world.

City Health Officer Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan said that they have also activated the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams in the fight against nCoV, ASF, and H5N1. (CIO MATI)
