The City of Mati LGU is implementing a temporary total ban on the entry of swine, hogs, pork, pork-related products and pork byproducts into the city.

In Executive Order No. 20 Series of 2020, City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat said that the items covered by the temporary total ban are live hogs, pork meat, frozen boar semen, canned goods from pork meat, other processed pork meat products, and pork siopao or pork siomai products.

The total ban is effective immediately and will remain until such time it is ordered lifted.

The Incident Management Team activated by Mayor Rabat for the African Swine Fever, the 2019 novel Coronavirus, and the H5N1 bird flu is tasked to take the lead in the implementation of the total ban.

The IMT met Thursday afternoon and decided to setup five checkpoints in the borders of Mati to ensure that the ASF infection would not reach the City of Mati.

The total ban was made hours before the confirmation of ASF infection in Calinan, Davao City. (CIO MATI)
