After the visit of foreign validators from the Most Beautiful Bays in the World Organization (MBBWO) few weeks ago, four Spanish diving instructors are now in the City of Mati for a dive site mapping.

The foreign divers are from Buceo An Cabo de Gata company. They are Francisco Juan Diaz Martinez, Cayetano Simon Rocamora and Carlos Rodriguez Hernandez.

The Spanish divers arrived in the City of Mati on Tuesday, January 21, and were welcomed by City Councilor Eric Rabat, City of Mati Tourism Council Chairperson Stefan Mikhail A. Rabat and City Tourism Officer Dashiel Indelible Jr.

The visit is part of the initiative of the Tourism Council with the support of the City of Mati LGU and City Tourism Office to sustain the protection of Pujada Bay and to create the foundation of a diving industry in the City of Mati.

β€œThe City of Mati has very good diving sites that is rich in coral reefs but need to be protected because corals have been affected by the overfishing. Within five years you can bring back the beauty of the ecosystem in Pujada Bay,” said Francisco Juan Diaz Martinez.

Through their feedback after visiting the different diving areas within Pujada Bay in the next days, the City of Mati LGU will come up with a plan on sustaining the biodiversity of Pujada Bay.

So far, the four foreign divers have visited Bobon and Manguihay in Barangay Dahican where they went diving.

The visitors will be in the city until end of January. (CIO MATI)
