In line with her administration’s quest for a corruption-free government, City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat meted a 30-day preventive suspension order against a department head for gross neglect of duty.

In a formal charge/order dated October 4 but served only Monday, October 7, Mayor Michelle gave the department head, whose name will not be made public while the administrative case is ongoing, 10 days to submit his/her answer/comment/counter-affidavit/explanation under oath.

The said department head is accused of approving allocation without supporting documents that resulted to an imbalance on the fund left for the new administration of Mayor Michelle.

A document from the City Legal Office’s investigation showed that the department head released a total amount of P5.38 million for the desilting and dredging expenses project that has an authorized appropriation of only P5 million.

“From the foregoing, the undersigned is of the opinion, that there exists a prima facie case for administrative case against the officer,” stated City Legal Officer Atty. Kareen Silver Marzan Manluyang in her investigation report submitted to Mayor Michelle last October 3.
Two more department heads are being investigated for various infractions while one department head opted to apply for an early retirement.(CIO MATI)
