On Wednesday, November 20, a fourth potable water system (PWS) of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) was turned over to the City of Mati LGU.

PWS turnover in Barangay Libudon was attended by Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat, City Councilor Eric Rabat, Engr. Rosendo Linsag, Engr. Ryan Cordova of Philippine Rural Development Project, City Planning and Development Office staff, City Agriculturist Eleanor E. Sambas, Barangay Captain Renerio Angsinco, Barangay Officials, City of Mati employees, Barangay Waterworks and Sanitation Association (BAWASA) officials, and Barangay Libudon PWS beneficiaries.

After how many years, I am back here with a purpose which is to turnover the potable water system. I am very thankful to the barangay officials especially to our barangay captain for the support, thru their efforts we are able to finish the construction. In just a span of four months we already turned over four patubig projects to the four barangays. I would like also to thank Ma’am Elenita for donating her land, thank so much ma’am with this you will be more blessed. The source of the water here Sitio Pabo is very stable with that we can still share to the other barangays who also need water. I am encouraging everyone to take care of the water source, the LGU is here to support on the operation and maintenance,” said Mayor Michelle in her message.

project has total cost of P3,044,981.64. The project’s cost of 10% was shouldered by the City of Mati LGU and with another 10% coming from the National Government of the Philippines and 80% of the total amount was meanwhile provided by the World Bank amounting to P2,435,985.31 thru the Philippine Rural Development Project.

Libudon barangay captain Renerio Angsinco meanwhile expressed gratitude to the city officials for the PWS project.

“I am very thankful to Mayor Michelle and to City Agriculture for being here. Thank you so much for the support, especially for the patubig project you shared to barangay Libudon. Water is very important to the people here in barangay Libudon. I am encouraging everyone to continue to support our Mayor, because we already see the changes of our City through her works and projects,” said Angsinco.

The Libudon PWS project will benefit 450 residents, it is consist of one unit spring box, one unit reservoir and 15 tap stands.

Sanchez, 64 year old beneficiary of the patubig said in vernacular “I am very happy because through this project we can easily get the water without any hassle. Thank you very much to our Mayor for the project and to the barangay officials also. Here in our barangay we really need stable source of water. Rest assured that we will take good care of the project because for us water is life.”

Eight more projects from spring development to infrastructures are set to be completed this year or next. The total amount of the 12 projects of City of Mati LGU through PRDP is P102,551,591.75. (CIO MATI)
