City Government of Mati, with DOSCST, offers free Community Fitness Program

The City Government of Mati, in cooperation with the DOSCST, offers this Community Fitness Program for all who desire supervision, direction, education, and camaraderie in their health and fitness efforts. Our vision is to help improve health and wellness by providing exercise opportunities for those who are physically out of shape or desiring more structure in their workout efforts. We aim to get you feeling better, stronger, and more energetic.

 

Business One Stop Shop opens in Mati City

Mati City (January, 2013) -- To encourage more investors in the city and to make the process easier and systematic, the City Government of Mati City opens this year’s Business One Stop Shop Program at the Pealez Activity Center, City Hall compound this city. The annual program started last January 4 and will culminate on January 20, 2013. The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) will lead the 3 week one stop shop program. Mr Joel Capalit, BPLO Head, encouraged the businessmen in the city to either renew or start a new business to get a business permit. The BPLO set – up an all in – one desk for the very important local and national agencies, manned with personnel to provide necessary services to the clients.

Mati has become a City by virtue of Republic Act 9408 converting the Municipality of Mati in the Province of Davao Oriental into a component city, to be known as the City of Mati, which was duly ratified through a plebiscite and subsequently proclaimed on June 19, 2007 having its corporate existence.

LOCATION
        It is located in the southeastern most part of the Philippine Archipelago in the Island of Mindanao. It is a part of the prosperous and peaceful Davao Region. The eastern side is bounded by the great Pacific Ocean and the Southern tip is the Celebes Sea. The lowland portion of the town including the poblacion hugs the majectic Pujada Bay.

HOW TO GET TO MATI
         Mati is accessible by air, land, sea transportation & Davao City serves as the entry point. It is 165 kms. from the Davao International Airport - a leisurely 2.5 hr. ride. Vans for hire are readily available at Gaisano Mall & Victoria Plaza Terminal and commuter buses regularly leaves the Davao City Terminal every 30 minutes. Fastcraft is also available at Sta. Ana wharf.

Roads - total road network of 579,295 kms. of these 60,507 kms. (Concrete), 37,172(Asphalt), 242,435 kms.(Gravel), 234.18 kms. (Earthfill).
Telecommunications - Served by two 2 telephone companies (MTC&PHILCOM), 2 telegraphic stations, Globe, Smart, Sun Cellular have also installed their cell sites. 2 Radio Stations & 1 cable provider.
Health - 2 hospitals (Provincial Hospital and St. Camillus Hospital)both are classified as tertiary hospitals and there are 26 barangay health stations.
Commerce - a total of 1,462 commercial establishments and employing about 1,109 manpower, categorized into the following: 49 wholesalers, 935 retailers, 23 banking and finance, 8 banks, 9 pawnshops, 4 lending/credit institutions and security dealers, 9 insurance companies, 12 realstate brokers and 434 establishments focused on services accounts these includes engineering and technical services, bookkeeping, accounting, recreational, restaurants, refreshment parlors, accommodation facilities and etc.
Transportation - a total of 4,294 motor vehicles. Basic means of transportation is tricycle having a total units of 1,635. Out of town travels are serviced by bus, vans, jeepneys for southbound and northbound routes. Area which are inaccessible by four-wheeled vehicles are serviced by single motorcycles locally known as "Habal-Habal". Mati has an airport and sea transportation for cargo shipments only. The port has a total of 87 meters and fall under the national port category(Marginal Type)
