CITY OF MATI EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION STRONGLY SUPPORTS MNR

1/27/2010
by Neela G. Duallo

City of Mati, Davao Oriental – The City of Mati Employees Association reiterates its strong support to the administration of Mayor Michelle Rabat, which is just very fitting for everything that the city government has done, for its sensitivity to their needs, and for its vision for the City.

Mr. Eddie Cobacha, association President explained that the city government does not only look into their monetary needs, but goes even beyond.

“We received quite a hefty sum for our Christmas benefits. But more than that, the incumbent administration has provided us with our needs to make our work easier, faster, and more convenient for us,” he said.

For the said benefits, the city government allocated 16 million pesos.

He commended Mayor Michelle Rabat and the rest of the officialdom of Mati for the programs and the projects implemented that has benefited the people, and made the desirable change in their lives.

“True, it is easy to start with many projects. But the challenge is to sustain them. And Mayor Rabat’s administration is doing its best to sustain what it has started. And undeniably, we have seen how the administration has delivered its health services, the public market, subsidy for the miscellaneous expenses in elementary education, and the centennial public transport terminal. These are vital components of the Mayor’s vision for the City,” he added.

On their General Assembly set within the week, the Association is expected to approve various proposals, embedded in their Collective Negotiation Agreement, after which, those will be presented and endorsed to the City Mayor.

Topping the proposals is the establishment of a child-minding center in the City of Mati . It is in the Center that parents can entrust their children while they are in work. Social workers will take care of the children.

“The objective here is to maximize the efforts of the parents in giving a good future for their children, that parents can work confidently and effectively without being distracted with the thought of their children, as the children are entrusted to what can now be called another home for them,” Cobacha explained.

Another proposal is the provision of sports equipment, and the yearly testimonial of retiring employees.

“We are optimistic with our proposals. Should these be approved, it will mean another set of benefits for the employees. Really, we are grateful to our city officials for looking into our welfare,” he furthered.

The City of Mati Employees Association has approximately 260 members, both regular and job order employees.

Cobacha boasts that in leading the Association, he is guided with his thrust of Better Government and Reforms through employees’ empowerment.
