Mati Leads One Summer Fun, One Davao Celebration
5/29/2012
by The City of Mati showcases
its local talents during the One Summer Fun, One Davao at the Abreeza Mall in
Davao City on May 23, 2012.
The Malamala Dance and
Theatre Group amazed the crowd as they provided the opening entertainment for
the program. Choreographed by Karlo Mark Malba, the group did a breathtaking
jazz chant number detailing all the tourist spots in the City of Mati. The
contents of the chant also encouraged the audience to visit the city for reasons
of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events/Exhibits (MICE).
In another performance, the
group entertained their audience with their colorful interpretation of life at
the Bay.
Other performers during the
One Summer Fun, One Davao were the Lupon Artists Movement for Progress (LAMP)
and KAAGAN Dance and Theatre Ensemble from Lupon, the Governor Generoso
Performing Group and the performers from Manay.
All participating city and
municipalities also presented their prepared Audio Visual Presentations
showcasing their top destinations. The end goal of the activity is to promote
all destinations in Davao Oriental in order to boost the influx of foreign and
domestic tourists. This, in turn, will help the local economy improve
significantly.
In addition to the 2-hour
activity, the Davao Oriental, in coordination with the Department of Trade and
Industry, also opened a booth displaying the produce from the province. There
were dumangs (pounded local chilis), brown highland rice, locally manufactured
bags and pouches as well as bonsais fit for any home’s garden or center table.
The said booth is expected to be in operation until May 28, 2012.
The One Summer Fun, One
Davao is an activity designed by the One Davao Tourism Officers Association
(ODTOA) and supported by the Department of Tourism – XI.
