A resident of the City of Mati has recently been cleared by health authorities of infection from Covid-19 after successfully complying with the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Mati City Health Officer and Incident Management Team (IMT) head Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan said the resident’s quarantine ended today, March 10, and he was already given the clearance by the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit.

It was learned that the “person under monitoring” (PUM) is a seaman with United States of America as its route. Upon returning home, the said PUM however made a quick stopover in Hong Kong for about one hour.

The City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit said that they have to implement the mandatory 14-day quarantine since the PUM passed thru Hong Kong which is among the countries known to have Covid-19 infection.

The Bureau of Quarantine informed the City of Mati LGU of the PUM’s arrival in the country on February 23. He arrived at the Davao International Airport on the 24th and directly travelled to the City of Mati.

Mati’s IMT Covid-19 readily imposed the mandatory quarantine upon PUM’s arrival in the City of Mati. The PUM stayed in his residence for the next 14 days and was cleared Tuesday after showing no signs and symptoms of the Covid-19.

City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat assured the public that biosecurity measures are in place to ensure that the mandatory quarantine to anyone who travelled from Covid-19 infected countries are strictly followed.

The IMT was activated since last month. At the moment, the City of Mati remains to be Covid-19 free. (CIO MATI)
