The Task Force Bantay Karne together with National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) went around slaughterhouses in the city and inspected market stalls selling meat products on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

Task Force Bantay Karne headed by Dr. Marites Linsag-Erispe of the City Veterinarian Services Office together with National Meat Inspection Service Region XI head Sofronio M. Lago, Jr. confiscated and condemned three slaughtered pigs during the joint operation that started early in the morning.

TF Bantay Karne confiscated two pigs from Rolando Escalante in Tagbobolo, Brgy. Sainz one from Melanie Valles from Magapo, Brgy. Central.

Escalante and Valles violated Presidential Decree No. 7 which prescribes the orderly marketing of livestocks and animal products; Republic Act 9296 or the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines; and the Amended City Ordinance No. 71, series of 2011 for having no meat inspection certificate.

The joint operation was also conducted in pursuant to NMIS Administrative Order No. 6 series of 1975. (CIO MATI)
