Two Matinians who won medals in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) would each be receiving P25,000 as incentive from the City Government of Mati for a job well done.

In a courtesy call at the City Mayor’s OfficeFriday, January 3, 2020, SEA Games bronze medalists Allyssa Bandoy and Mary Melody Taming were welcomed by City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat and informed of the cash incentives from the city government.

Mayor Michelle thanked the two athletes for bringing pride to Mati in the sports of Sepaktakraw.

The mayor said two bronze medals are enough to bring honor to the city since what is important is their experience in competing in the international sports arena while bringing the name of not just the Philippines but that of the City of Mati as well.

Aside from competing in the SEA Games, Bandoy and Taming also competed in the Arafura Games and the Sepaktakraw Asia Championship in China and also brought home bronze medals.

Mayor Michelle urged the two Matinian athletes to keep striving and bringing pride to Mati City at the same time inspiring the youth to get involved in sports.

Bandoy and Taming also expressed their gratitude for the cash incentives from the City of Mati LGU and vowed to work harder to bring more pride to the Filipinos and Mati in particular. (CIO MATI)
