The Local Council for the Protection and Welfare of Children has been alloted an annual budget of P22,863, 069.50 for 2020.

City of Mati Councilor Rogelio A. Pabio, Committee on Social Welfare chairman, made the announcement during the Council’s meeting Friday, December 27.

At the same time, the plaque of recognition awarded to the City of Mati, Davao Oriental as Regional Winner for 2018 of the Presidential Award for Child-friendly Municipalities and Cities and Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance was also presented to the Council members.

Other attendees to the meeting were OIC-City Social Welfare and Development Mae Belle Fontillas, Department of Interior and Local Government representative, Esnani O. Mai, Jr. City Local Youth and Development Officer, Barangay Kagawads, and 26 child representatives.

The Council also conducted the election of officers for the Local Council for the Protection of Children representative, who will represent children aged 9 to 14 years old in every meeting of the council.

City Councilor Pabio encouraged the parents to participate in every program given by the City of Mati LGU that will benefit children of every barangay. (CIO MATI)
