Preparations start for the Citihood Day & Pujada Bay Festival twin celebration

6/6/2011

Preparations are underway for the five day convergence of activities of the twin celebration of  Citihood Day and Pujada Bay Festival. This year’s 8th Pujada Bay festivity will start on June 15, 2011 and will culminate on the 4th Anniversary of the cityhood of Mati on June 19, 2011.

It will be a weeklong series of events that brings together Matinians in a mood of celebration, a celebration that gives honor to Mati’s most important natural attraction, the Pujada Bay.

The double celebration is aimed at providing an avenue for commemorating the conversion of the municipality into a city per Republic Act 9408. The primary advocacies in the promotion, protection and preservation of Pujada Bay for Pujada Bay Festival is also stated per City Ordinance No. 1 series of 2007.

The organizers are optimistic that the celebration of the Pujada Bay Festival and Citihood Day will improve   public and private partnerships in the area of event management and community advocacies as well as in the tourism sector that will open business opportunities for accommodation and food establishments, reinforcing tourism branding and improving efficiencies among government entities involved in tourism industry. It also hopes to enhance the government’s initiatives in natural resource management, climate change adaption, and fisheries sector development.
