City Government of Mati, with DOSCST, offers free Community Fitness Program

The City Government of Mati, in cooperation with the DOSCST, offers this Community Fitness Program for all who desire supervision, direction, education, and camaraderie in their health and fitness efforts. Our vision is to help improve health and wellness by providing exercise opportunities for those who are physically out of shape or desiring more structure in their workout efforts. We aim to get you feeling better, stronger, and more energetic.

 

Business One Stop Shop opens in Mati City

Mati City (January, 2013) -- To encourage more investors in the city and to make the process easier and systematic, the City Government of Mati City opens this year’s Business One Stop Shop Program at the Pealez Activity Center, City Hall compound this city. The annual program started last January 4 and will culminate on January 20, 2013. The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) will lead the 3 week one stop shop program. Mr Joel Capalit, BPLO Head, encouraged the businessmen in the city to either renew or start a new business to get a business permit. The BPLO set – up an all in – one desk for the very important local and national agencies, manned with personnel to provide necessary services to the clients.

LGU – Mati Vows To Support the Anti – Measles Campaign of DOH

The City Government of Mati with the City Health Office launched  the nationwide program of the month long anti –measles vaccination campaign of the Department of Health, started last April 4 and will end on May 4, 2011. 

The month - long door to door Supplemental Immunization Campaign (SEC) of children from nine months old to eight years below is a health strategy  aims to control outbreaks in the City.

The launching activity for the  measles vaccination program tagged “Iligtas sa Tigdas ang Pinas” was personally attended by the Mayor of Mati Michelle N. Rabat at the City Main Health Office

The Mayor encouraged the parents of the 26 barangays to participate by allowing health teams to vaccinate their children. The vaccination team composed of doctors and nurses as supervisors, barangay midwives as vaccinator, health job orders and volunteers and Brgy. Health Workers as guide and recorder respectively.

Rabat vows to support  the said  program of the Department of Health.

Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan, Jr. City Health Officer assures the public that the health department has been prepared for the conduct of the anti- measles immunization program.

It was also learned that children who have been vaccinated against measles before should be vaccinated for as long as 28 days have already passed since the last vaccination.

The data of the city main health office shows, that last year only 1 (one) mortality case was reported due to measles.

Philippines is one of the countries in the western Pacific that have committed to eradicate measles in 2012.

What is "Iligtas sa Tigdas ang Pinas"?
A measles supplemental immunization activity (SIA) for a measles-free Philippines. This is a sequel to the 1998, 2004 and 2007 mass measles campaigns. Measles-Rubella(German Measles) vaccines shall be provided during immunization activity(for FREE).

What vaccination strategy will be used in this activity?
Strictly "Door to Door" immunization strategy

Objectives of the campaign:
To reduce the number or pool of children at risk of getting measles or being susceptible to measles.To achieve at least 95% measles-rubella immunization coverage of all children 9 months and below 8 years old. (target is 31 million children in the Philippines)

Ultimate Goal:
    To eliminate measles by 2012
    To accelerate the control of rubella

What are the "doors" referred to in this campaign?
    It includes all doors of houses, condominiums, apartments, tenements, orphanages and     halfway homes as well as non-conventional doors in the community.

Non-conventional doors include the following:
    Informal settlements such families/persons living under the bridge, inside the parks
    cemeteries, open spaces, in tents, carts, abandoned buildings, old vehicles/trans/
    motorboats, under the trees, in islands on the middle of the street, etc.
    All business/commercial establishments and market stalls where children may reside
    Institutions

How is it different from the previous campaign?
    Measles-free certification will be issued to provinces and cities if all the following criteria     are met:
    All barangays have passed the Rapid Coverage Assessment (RCA) with no missed child     and > 95% house marking accuracy(stickers will be used for marking)

There are no measles cases for the next 3 months after the campaign
Measles surveillance indicators have met the national standard

    Assist in information dissimination of MRSIA among their respective organization
    Facilitate and assist the vaccination teams during the Measles-Rubella SIA campaign
    Putting up of streamers/tarpaulins for widest dissimination
    Provide assistance in kind to our volunteers and vaccination teams
