City Government of Mati, with DOSCST, offers free Community Fitness Program

The City Government of Mati, in cooperation with the DOSCST, offers this Community Fitness Program for all who desire supervision, direction, education, and camaraderie in their health and fitness efforts. Our vision is to help improve health and wellness by providing exercise opportunities for those who are physically out of shape or desiring more structure in their workout efforts. We aim to get you feeling better, stronger, and more energetic.

 

Business One Stop Shop opens in Mati City

Mati City (January, 2013) -- To encourage more investors in the city and to make the process easier and systematic, the City Government of Mati City opens this year’s Business One Stop Shop Program at the Pealez Activity Center, City Hall compound this city. The annual program started last January 4 and will culminate on January 20, 2013. The Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) will lead the 3 week one stop shop program. Mr Joel Capalit, BPLO Head, encouraged the businessmen in the city to either renew or start a new business to get a business permit. The BPLO set – up an all in – one desk for the very important local and national agencies, manned with personnel to provide necessary services to the clients.

Fitness Run 2011, A Big Success

The Fitness Run 2011 “Run for a Hearty Cause” turned out to be a huge success last Sunday, February 13, 2011, a day before the Valentines Day.

Despite the rain, more than 1,500 run enthusiasts were on the street and able to join the run for a cause including city and provincial government officials and employees, PNP, Philippine Army, Army Reservists, Coast Guard, students from public and private schools, teachers, different non – government organizations, private and public institutions/agencies, and the Sangguniang Kabataan sa Mati members and officers.

Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat expressed her gratitude to the more than 1,500 people who attended the benefit run and to the sponsors, contributors and the members of the organizing group. The technical working group includes the DOSMART and Dreams Rescue 166.

According to organizers, the event raised an amount of P 52,120.00. The money from the registration fee of the participants will go to the blood donation program of Philippine National Red Cross in the City of Mati.

According to Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan, City Health Officer and Co- Chairman of the Technical Working  Group of the fitness run, more than 963 bags of blood were utilized by Mati in 2010. 626 bags of blood collected /donated were mostly from BHS in Mati. “The community needs to be involved to pitch in and increase the advocacy on voluntary blood program services of Mati”, he added.

It was also learned that 60% of blood processing fee sponsored by LGU - Mati is estimated at 700 to 800  thousands of pesos  per year.


After the successful fitness run, the City government of Mati has already set a regular dance exercise at the Mati Park and Baywalk during weekends.  The schedule for this activity is yet to be set.
