The holy month of Ramadan entails a lot of self-sacrifices for the Muslim. It is an opportunity to attain national unity, peace and reconciliation, and sharing of opportunities to attain lasting economic progress for the entire country.

For Muslims, the beginning of the ninth month in the Muslim lunar calendar marks the start of Ramadan which is a time for spiritual reflection, prayers and fasting. During fasting, Muslims are prohibited or not allowed to eat anything within the day and only allowed to eat or have dinner in the evening (between 6:00pm to 4:00 early morning).

During the Ramadan period, every Muslim are refrain from bickerings, quarrels, doing nuisance, evil thoughts against his brethren, or commit even petty crime. They are not allowed to eat, drink, smoke or have sex between sunrise and sunset according to their elders.
